# Company connection and setup

> How corporate mode is turned on, what is created automatically and which company settings to check before you start training

A corporate company on Exode is your training website with its own address, design and list of
employees. This page explains what happens when corporate mode is connected and which settings
to check before you invite employees.

## How a company is connected

To connect a company, contact the Exode sales team or support.

### What is created in a new company

When a company is created, Exode prepares a minimal organization structure:

* the **“Main department”** department;
* the **“Manager”** position;
* the company owner is added to the “Main department” with the “Manager” position and becomes the manager
  of this department.

You can rename the departments and the position or replace them with your own.

### What happens when an existing school is moved

| What | How it changes |
| - | - |
| Website access | The company becomes private: self-registration is closed |
| Organization structure | If there are no departments yet, a root department with the school's name and a nested “Main department” are created. The owner becomes the manager of the root department |
| Users | All users without a department are added to the “Main department”. If departments already existed, users go to the first root department |
| Courses | All courses become free and hidden from the catalog |
| Launches | Launches are published and give unlimited access. Launches you unpublished manually stay unpublished |
| Course visibility for administrators | Courses whose team visibility was never configured become available only to their editors |
| Owner permissions | The owner gets the full set of permissions, including staff management |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Employees' course access and progress are not deleted during the move.

## Company settings

The settings are in **Company → Settings**. They work the same way as in an online school, only
the fields refer to the company: “Company name”, “Company slogan”, “Company logo”, “Company
icon”, “Company domain”, “Company contacts”, “Company addresses”.

| Subsection | What you set up | Learn more |
| - | - | - |
| **Information and domain** | Name, slogan, contacts, website address | [Domain](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-creation/domain.md) |
| **Design and brand** | Logo, icon, colors, theme | [Logo and icon](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-setup/logo-and-icon.md), [Themes](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-setup/themes.md) |
| **Catalog and footer** | Catalog blocks and the bottom part of the website | [Customization](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-setup/customization) |
| **Left site menu** | Menu items that employees see | [Customization](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-setup/customization) |

Interface languages are set up the same way as in an online school: see [Languages](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-setup/languages.md).

### Company access status

The main settings show the access status:

* “Everything is fine — the company is active” and the “Access is active until …” date: everything works;
* “Contact support to extend access”: the access period has ended.

A company has no **Subscription and tariff** section. Your Exode manager changes the tariff and limits. If an action hits
a tariff limit or a feature that is not enabled, the window offers the **Request a tariff upgrade** or
**Request activation** button. The button leads to support.

## Login and registration

The **Company → Login and registration** section defines who gets into the company and how.

| Setting | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Company privacy** | **Private company**: registration is closed, administrators create users or invite them via a link. **Public company**: any website visitor can sign up. A new company is created as private |
| **Login methods** | Email and phone. A private company must keep at least one of them |
| **Session limit** | From 1 to 10 active sessions per user. In soft mode the old session ends by itself, in strict mode a new login is blocked |
| **Users can create chats** | If turned off, only company administrators create new chats |
| **Profiles are visible to all company members** | If turned off, a profile is visible only to its owner and company administrators |

> [!TIP]
>
> Keep the company private. It is more convenient to add employees from a list or via an invite link to a
> department: then everyone lands in the right department right away. See [Adding employees](https://faq.exode.biz/en/corporate/onboarding.md).

## Frequently asked questions

> **Can I switch the company back to online school mode?**
>
> Only the Exode team switches the mode, so write to support. You cannot change the mode yourself
> in the settings.

> **What happens if I make the company public?**
>
> Any website visitor can sign up on their own. Such a user does not belong to any
> department until an administrator adds them. If you need people to register straight into a department, use
> an invite link to a department with registration.

> **Why is there no “Subscription and tariff” section in the settings?**
>
> In corporate mode, an Exode manager changes the tariff and the access period. The main settings show only the
> status: whether the company is active and until what date.

> **Where did the “Legal data” and “Payment acceptance” sections go?**
>
> They are needed to accept payments, so they are hidden in a company.

> **Can I delete the “Main department” that was created automatically?**
>
> Yes, if it has no employees and no nested departments. First move the employees to other
> departments. You also need to move the owner: you cannot remove their last department.

> **Are courses and progress kept when a school is moved to a company?**
>
> Yes. Courses, lessons, access and progress are kept. Only the way courses are shown and sold changes: they
> become free and hidden from the catalog.
