# Glossary

> Key Exode terms as they are named in the interface, with short explanations and links to detailed articles

The terms are grouped by topic and named the same way as in the platform interface. Each row has a short
explanation and a link to the article that covers the topic in detail.

## School and tariff

| Term | What it is | Learn more |

| **Commercial mode** | The mode of a school that sells courses. It has sales, payment acceptance and legal data. | [School type](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-creation/school-type.md) |
| **Corporate mode** | The mode of a company that trains its employees. There are no sales, but there is an org structure, positions and automatic course assignment. | [School type](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-creation/school-type.md) |
| **Base domain** | A free school address on the platform's domain. It is set when the school is created. | [School domain](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-creation/domain.md) |

| **Subscription and tariff** | Payment for using the platform. The tariff defines the school's limits and set of features. | **Tariff limit** | A restriction of the tariff, for example “Total courses” or “Staff members”. ## People and permissions

| **Group** | A set of students of a course with its own rules for lesson access, deadlines, curators and chats. | [Creating groups](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/groups/creating-groups.md) |

| **Free access (demo)** | A lesson access type (commercial schools only: a company has no demo lessons). Such a lesson can be taken without buying, but only after signing in.
