# Course catalog

> How to set up the catalog cover and tag tabs, which courses get into the catalog and how to change their order.

The catalog is the school's storefront. Visitors see the courses they can buy or get for free there. At the top of the catalog there is a cover with a title, and below it — tag tabs and course cards.

You set up the catalog's appearance in **My school → Settings → Catalog and footer** (in a corporate school — **Company → Settings → Catalog and footer**). The set of courses depends on the settings of the courses themselves.

## Catalog cover

The **Catalog cover** block sets up the top part of the catalog. The fields are saved automatically.

| Field | Limit | If left empty |
| - | - | - |
| **Title** | Up to 65 characters | The school name is shown |
| **Subtitle** | Up to 150 characters, line breaks are kept | The school slogan is shown |
| Background | **Color** or **Image** | Orange color `#fa6c1c` |

### Color background

Choose the **Color** mode and click the sample in the middle of the area. The chosen color is saved automatically.

### Image background

**1. Choose the “Image” mode**

An upload area appears under the switch.

**2. Upload a picture**

An image file up to 2 MB works. The optimal size is 1512×400 pixels or a picture with the same proportions.

**3. Crop the image**

The editor opens with a frame in the 1512 to 400 proportion. After you confirm, the cover is saved automatically. The platform uploads the cover without compression.

If the file is larger than 2 MB, you will see the message **The file exceeds 2 MB**, and the upload won't start.

## Tag tabs

The **Catalog grouping by tags** block splits the catalog into tabs. Each tab shows the courses with one tag.

**1. Add tags to courses**

Tags are set in the course settings, in the **Tags and labels** field. After you save the course, the tag appears in the grouping block. Learn more in [Course settings](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/courses/settings.md).

**2. Choose tags for tabs**

In the **Select tags for tabs** block, check the tags you need. The list contains the tags of all non-archived school courses, in alphabetical order.

**3. Decide whether you need the “All” tab**

Check **Show "All" tab** to make a tab with all courses go first. By default, it is off.

**4. Save**

Click **Save**. While the changes are not saved, there is a **Cancel** button next to it.

What the visitor sees:

* Instead of the **Courses** heading with the number of courses, tabs appear above the cards. On a phone, you can swipe them sideways.
* The selected tab shows the number of courses in brackets.
* When the catalog opens, the **All** tab is selected if it is on. If it is off, all courses are shown, but no tab is highlighted.

To remove all tabs, click **Reset tags** and then **Save**.

## Which courses get into the catalog

A course is visible in the catalog only if all conditions are met:

* the course is published and not moved to the archive;
* the course has the **In catalog** switch on;
* the course is on sale right now: it has an active tariff or the course is free, the sales start date has already come and the end date hasn't passed;
* the current course launch is open for sales, if the course has launches.

The **In catalog** switch is in the course card menu (the “⋯” icon) in the course list. If the course is hidden, its card has an icon with the hint **The course is hidden from the catalog** (in a corporate school, the card says **Visible in catalog** or **Hidden from catalog**). If you turn the switch off, the course disappears from the catalog, but it can still be bought via a direct link, or you can enroll a student manually (in a corporate school — only enroll manually).

Learn more about sales in [Launch and tariffs](https://faq.exode.biz/en/online-schools/sales-payments/launches-and-pricing.md) (commercial schools only). In a corporate school, courses are not sold, and the catalog display conditions are described in [Courses in a company](https://faq.exode.biz/en/corporate/courses.md).

## Course order

Courses are shown in the order the school has set. If the order is the same, courses go from newest to oldest by publication date. One catalog page shows up to 51 cards.

To change the order:

**1. Open the catalog**

Open the school catalog in the desktop version under an account with the **Course management** permission. The catalog must have more than one course.

**2. Turn on sorting mode**

Click the gear icon on the right above the cards.

**3. Drag the cards**

Arrange the courses in the order you need and click **Save**.

## Frequently asked questions

> **Why isn't my course visible in the catalog?**
>
> Check the conditions: the course is published, the **In catalog** switch is on, the course has an active tariff or is free, and sales are open now. If at least one condition isn't met, the course won't be in the catalog. For a corporate school, see [Courses in a company](https://faq.exode.biz/en/corporate/courses.md).

> **Why isn't a tag in the list for tabs?**
>
> The list contains only tags of non-archived school courses. Add the tag to at least one course in the **Tags and labels** field and save the course. Then refresh the settings page.

> **I removed a tag from all courses, but the tab is still there. Why?**
>
> The selected tabs are stored in the catalog settings separately from the courses. The tab stays, but it will be empty. Click **Reset tags**, choose the tabs again and save.

> **Can a course be shown in several tabs at once?**
>
> Yes. Add several tags to the course and choose them for tabs. The course appears in each of them.

> **Why won't the cover upload?**
>
> The file is larger than 2 MB or it isn't an image. Compress the picture or save it in an image format and upload it again.

> **Can visitors see the catalog without registering?**
>
> In a public school — yes. In a private school, the catalog and course pages open only after signing in. Learn more in [Login and registration](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/school-setup/registration-settings.md).

> **Why does the catalog in the mobile app show only free courses?**
>
> If sales are turned off in the app for this platform, the catalog shows only free courses. The web version of the website shows all courses.

> **Is a purchased course hidden from the catalog?**
>
> No. In the school catalog, the course stays visible to those who have already bought it.
