# Payment acceptance

> How to connect a school cash register: payment providers, the notification link, fiscal receipts and commissions

To let students pay for courses online, connect a cash register. A cash register is a connection to your contract with a payment provider: you enter the details from the provider's account into Exode, and students' payments go to your account with that provider. Exode does not pass the school's money through its own balance.

Cash registers are set up in **My school → Payment acceptance**. You can connect several of them. The buyer chooses one of them on the [checkout page](https://faq.exode.biz/en/online-schools/sales-payments/checkout-setup.md).

## What you need to connect

* Your school's Exode tariff must include the **Accept payments** feature. If it does not, a window offering to change the tariff opens when you create a cash register. See [Subscription and tariffs](https://faq.exode.biz/en/online-schools/getting-started/subscription-plans.md) for details.
* The staff member must have the **School settings management** permission. See [Access rights](https://faq.exode.biz/en/general/roles-permissions/access-rights.md) for details.
* You need a valid contract with the provider and access to its account: the IDs and keys for the cash register form come from there.

## Payment providers

The connection form shows only providers that work in your school's currency.

### Uzbekistan

| Provider | How the buyer pays | Automatic charges from a linked card |
| - | - | - |
| Payme | Goes to pay in Payme | No |
| Click | Goes to pay in Click | No |
| Uzum, payment in the app | The **Proceed to payment** button opens the bank app | No |
| Uzum, card payment | Uzum payment page | No |
| Multicard | Uzcard, Humo and SBP on the Multicard payment page | Yes |
| Atmos, Visa and Mastercard | Atmos payment page | Yes |
| Atmos, Uzcard and Humo | Enters the card on the school's website and a code from an SMS | Yes |
| Hamkor, Visa and Mastercard | Provider's payment page | Yes |

| Paylov | Enters the card on the school's website and a code from an SMS | Yes |

### Russia and Kazakhstan

| Provider | Country | How the buyer pays | Automatic charges from a linked card |
| - | - | - | - |
| T-Bank | Russia | Card payment or payment in the bank app | No |
| Prodamus | Russia | Card payment on the Prodamus page | No |
| CloudPayments | Russia | Visa, Mastercard and Mir in a payment form | Yes |
| CloudPayments | Kazakhstan | Visa and Mastercard in a payment form | Yes |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Automatic charges are needed for [installments and subscriptions](https://faq.exode.biz/en/online-schools/sales-payments/installments.md). Through a cash register without card linking, such tariffs can be sold only if **One-time payment** is turned on in the tariff. Then the student pays each payment themselves.

## How to connect a cash register

**1. Open the cash register section**

Go to **My school → Payment acceptance** and click **Add cash register**.

**2. Choose a provider**

Choose the provider in the **Payment provider** field. Under the field you can see which payment systems it supports. The provider cannot be changed after the cash register is created.

**3. Fill in the details from the provider's account**

The set of fields depends on the provider: merchant ID, keys, tokens. Receipt and commission settings are also set here if the provider supports them. All data is stored encrypted.

**4. Save the cash register**

Click **Connect cash register**. The message **Cash register successfully connected** appears.

**5. Set the notification link**

If the provider needs a notification link, the **The cash register is almost ready** window opens. Copy the link, paste it into the settings of the provider's account and click **I've set up the link**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Without the notification link, Exode will not know that an invoice has been paid or refunded. The student will pay but will not get access. You can copy the link later in the cash register edit form. Each cash register has its own link.

## Managing cash registers

In the list, each cash register shows its name, the **Active** or **Inactive** status and the date of the last change. Hovering over the date shows when the cash register was connected and who connected it.

* **Editing.** Click the pencil icon to change the cash register's details. Saved values are filled into the form. After saving, **Cash register successfully updated** appears.
* **Order.** Drag cash registers in the list. The buyer sees the payment methods in the same order.
* **Archive.** In the cash register's menu, choose **Archive cash register**. An archived cash register is turned off and disappears from the checkout page. To see the archive, switch the filter above the list to **Archive**. You can bring a cash register back with **Unarchive**, after which you need to turn it on again.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Turning off or archiving a cash register removes it only from the checkout page. Automatic charges for installment plans and subscriptions already set up with cards linked through this cash register continue.

## Fiscal receipts

Receipts are issued by the payment provider. Exode passes it the receipt data from the cash register settings.

### Uzbekistan

For Payme, Click, Uzum (card payment), Multicard, Octo, Paylov, Atmos and Hamkor, you can turn on receipt transfer in the cash register settings and specify:

* the IKPU code and the package code — separately for each course type, as well as for the school's other product types. Not all providers accept the package code;
* the VAT rate, if the provider accepts it.

Exode fills the codes into the receipt based on the type of the paid course. After payment, the buyer sees the **Your receipt** link on the successful payment screen. If the provider does not return the receipt right away, Exode requests it again.

### Russia

For T-Bank, the cash register settings include the taxation system and the VAT rate. Exode passes the receipt together with the payment, and the buyer's phone number or email goes into the receipt.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Purchases for 0 go through without a provider, so no receipt is issued for them.

## Commissions

* Payments go to your account with the provider, so the commission for accepting payments is set by your contract with the provider.
* For Click, Octo and Paylov, you can set the provider's commission as a percentage in the cash register settings. It is added to the invoice amount, and the buyer pays more. For example, with a 2% commission on a course that costs 1,000,000 UZS, the buyer pays 1,020,000 UZS. When the buyer selects such a cash register on the checkout page, the caption **Payment provider commission may apply** appears.
* In **Sales → Payments**, the invoice amount is shown without the provider's commission.

## Frequently asked questions

> **The student paid, but the invoice is stuck in “Awaiting payment”. Why?**
>
> Most often the notification link is not set in the provider's account, and Exode did not receive payment confirmation. Copy the link in the cash register edit form and paste it into the provider's settings. Also check that the cash register details were entered without mistakes.

> **Why isn't the provider I need in the list?**
>
> The form shows only providers that work in your school's currency. For example, a school whose currency is UZS will not see Russian providers.

> **I can't add a cash register. What should I do?**
>
> Check that your school's Exode tariff includes the **Accept payments** feature and that you have the **School settings management** permission. If the error persists, contact Exode support.

> **Can I connect several cash registers?**
>
> Yes. The buyer sees all active cash registers and chooses a convenient one. You set the order in the list by dragging.

> **How do I change a cash register's provider?**
>
> You can't: the provider is set only when the cash register is created. Connect a new cash register with the provider you need and archive the old one.

> **Which cash register works for installments and subscriptions?**
>
> A cash register with automatic charges: Multicard, Atmos, Hamkor, Paylov or CloudPayments. Through other cash registers, installments and subscriptions can be sold only if **One-time payment** is turned on in the tariff.

> **Why did the buyer pay more than the course costs?**
>
> The cash register has a provider commission set. It is added to the invoice amount. If you don't want to pass the commission on to the buyer, clear this field in the cash register settings.

> **I turned off a cash register. Will automatic installment charges stop?**
>
> No. The cash register disappears from the checkout page, but charges for installment plans and subscriptions already set up continue. To stop the charges, cancel the installment plan or subscription in **Sales**.

> **Where can I see the link to the fiscal receipt?**
>
> The buyer sees the **Your receipt** link on the successful payment screen. The link appears for Uzbekistan providers that return a receipt, and only if receipt transfer is turned on in the cash register.
