This page describes the ways a student pays for a purchase, how Exode saves a card for automatic charges and what each payment status means. Which methods are available in your school depends on the connected cash registers. See Payment acceptance for details.

What you can sell

See Installments and subscriptions for more about installments and subscriptions.

Payment methods

On the checkout page, the student chooses a payment method from the list. Their saved cards come first, then the school’s cash registers.

Going to the provider

The student clicks the payment button and goes to the provider’s payment page or app: Payme, Click, Uzum, Multicard, Octo, T-Bank, Prodamus, as well as Atmos and Hamkor for Visa and Mastercard cards. After paying, they return to the invoice page in the school, where the status updates automatically. For payment in the Uzum app on a computer, a window opens with the Proceed to payment button and the caption Bank app will open.

Card on the school’s website

For Atmos and Hamkor with Uzcard and Humo cards, as well as for Paylov, the student enters card details right on the school’s website, on the Card payment page.
1

The student enters the card details

The Card number and Card expiration date fields, in MM/YY format. Some card types also require the CVC and Cardholder’s full name. Then the student clicks Get code.
2

The student confirms the payment with a code

The bank sends an SMS to the phone number linked to the card. The student enters the code and clicks Confirm code. If the code did not arrive, they can click Resend, and to pay with a different card — Another card?.

Payment form

For CloudPayments, payment can go through a payment form that opens on top of the school’s page. While it is loading, the student sees Opening the payment form…. If the form did not load, the message Failed to load the payment form appears with the Try again and Back to the invoice buttons.

Saved card

If the student has already linked a card through your school’s cash register, it appears first in the list of payment methods. Its expiration date is shown under the card. When paying with a saved card, the money is charged immediately, without going to the provider. A saved card is shown only while the cash register it was linked through is active.

Card linking

A card is linked when the student sets up an installment plan or subscription through a cash register with automatic charges. You can’t add a card to the account separately.
1

The student sets up an installment plan or subscription

They select a tariff and click Pay in installments or Subscribe.
2

The student adds a card

Depending on the cash register, they enter the card on the Adding a card page with confirmation by an SMS code, or on the provider’s page.
3

Exode saves the card

The linking status changes to Card added. The card is assigned to the installment plan or subscription.
4

The first payment is charged

If the first scheduled payment falls on the sign-up day, Exode charges it from the linked card right away.
If the student has already set up an installment plan or subscription and chose a saved card, they don’t need to link it again. If the provider reports that the card is already linked, Exode shows the message Card is already linked and offers to log in to the account to return to payment.

Student’s cards

The student manages cards in the Payments and bills section of their account:
  • the Cards block shows all saved cards, the date added and the expiration date;
  • the Remove card button deletes the card from the system;
  • in an installment plan or subscription, they can choose another saved card in the Selected card field and click Save.
A card used in an active installment plan or subscription can’t be deleted. The student sees the message The card is still in use and the hint Change the card for all active subscriptions and installments and try again. A staff member with the School sales permission can also change the card in a student’s installment plan or subscription, but only to one of that student’s active cards.

Payment statuses

One invoice can have several payment attempts, and each has its own status. The invoice status in Sales → Payments comes from the most successful attempt: if at least one attempt is paid, the invoice is considered paid. An invoice shows Unsuccessful only if all attempts are unsuccessful. When the student starts a new attempt for the same invoice, all unfinished attempts for this invoice change to Unsuccessful.

Why a payment fails

If the provider passed a reason for the decline, the student sees it on the Payment failed screen in the Reason for error block. Common reasons:
  • Insufficient funds on the card;
  • Card is blocked or Card expiration date has passed;
  • Invalid verification code or Confirmation code has expired;
  • Daily limit for this card has been exhausted or Card limit exceeded;
  • The payment was declined by the card issuer — the student needs to contact their bank;
  • Card is not supported.
If the reason is unknown, Exode suggests Try another card.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the connected cash registers. The supported payment systems are listed under the provider selection field in the cash register settings. On the checkout page, each cash register has a caption, for example Uzcard • Humo or Visa • Mastercard.
The bank sends the code to the phone number linked to the card. If SMS notifications are not enabled for the card or a different number is linked, the code won’t arrive. The student can click Resend or pay with another card.
Only if One-time payment is turned on in the tariff. Then the student pays the first payment as a regular payment, and the following ones themselves, using the invoice in the Payments and bills section. There are no automatic charges in this case.
The card is used in an active installment plan or subscription. First choose another card in all active installment plans and subscriptions or wait until they end, then delete the card.
The student makes a purchase with the new card or chooses it in the Selected card field of the installment plan or subscription in the Payments and bills section. A school staff member can choose the card in Sales → Installments or Sales → Subscriptions if the new card is already saved for the student.
A card is shown only while the cash register it was linked through is active. If the cash register was turned off or archived, cards linked through it are not offered for new payments.
No. It means the card is linked. The installment or subscription payment itself is charged separately and appears in Sales → Payments with its own status.
The decline came from the student’s bank, not from Exode. The student needs to contact their bank or pay with another card.
