Courses in a company are built the same way as in an online school: modules, lessons, practice, SCORM packages, certificates. What differs is how an employee gets into a course. A course is not sold: it is assigned, opened for self-enrollment or shared via a link. All of this is set up on the course’s Access & assignments page. To learn how to create and fill a course, see Creating courses, Course settings and Lesson content.

How a company course differs from an online school course

Instead of a sales status, the course card in the list shows “Visible in catalog” or “Hidden from catalog”. The course list has the Enrollment type filter.

Course enrollment methods

Open the course and go to Access & assignments. In the Access management block, choose one or several methods. Changes are saved automatically. Rules:
  • At least one method must remain: you cannot remove the last one. You see “At least one enrollment method must remain”.
  • Manual assignment by an administrator always works, whatever methods are selected.
  • People who are already enrolled do not lose access if you later turn off the method they came through.

Showing in the catalog

The Show in catalog toggle is on the same page. Below it is a short summary: whether the course is visible in the catalog and how people can get into it.
  • Open enrollment works only for a course that is visible in the catalog. If the catalog is turned off, you see the warning “Catalog visibility is off — enrolling via the catalog is not possible”.
  • A course appears in the catalog only if its launch is published and available for enrollment. Otherwise you see the warning “The course will not appear in the catalog” with the To launch settings button.
  • If a course is hidden from the catalog, only people enrolled in it see its page and lesson list. The exception is a course inside a bundle that is visible in the catalog.
  • If a course is visible in the catalog but Open enrollment is turned off, the employee sees the course page marked “The course is available by assignment only” and cannot enroll on their own.
The Invite links block appears if the By invite link method is selected.
1

Create a link

On the Access & assignments page, in the Invite links block, click Create link.
2

Choose a group

In the Enrollment group field, choose a course group. The default is “Last added group”.
3

Set limits

If needed, turn on Limit validity period and enter a date in the Valid until field. In the Enrollment limit field, enter how many people can enroll. An empty field means no limit.
4

Send the link

Copy the link and share it with employees.
How the link works:
  • People can enroll only if the course has a published active launch. Otherwise you see the warning “Launch is not published”.
  • The link only enrolls people in the course. The employee must already have an account in the company. To let newcomers sign up on their own, use an invite link to a department.
  • If an enrolled employee follows the link again, it does not use up the limit.
  • The link row shows how many people have joined, for example “3 of 10 enrollments”.
  • You can turn the link off with the toggle, archive it and restore it from the archive.

Automatic assignments

The bottom part of the Access & assignments page collects the automatic assignment rules for all course groups: for each group you see whether the rules are turned on and which conditions are set. The rules themselves are set up in the course group. See Automatic course assignment. If the course has no groups, you see the hint “Create a course group to configure the auto-assignment”.

Frequently asked questions

A new course in a company is hidden from the catalog. Turn on Show in catalog on the Access & assignments page and select Open enrollment. Check that the course launch is published.
No. In corporate mode all courses are free, and prices and tariffs are hidden.
Grant access manually in the user card or add the employee to a course group. This works with any enrollment method. To learn how to grant access, see Adding to a course.
It is the last selected method. First turn on another one, then turn off this one.
In a company, a new course is visible by default only to the editors in the list. Add your colleague to the editors in Settings → Authors and editors or turn on visibility for the whole team. See Roles and permissions.
No. A company has no demo lessons: the lesson access setting is not shown. To let an employee open a course without an assignment, turn on Open enrollment: they enroll on their own from the catalog or via the course link.
People who are already enrolled keep their access. New employees can no longer enroll on their own: only by assignment or via a link, if it is allowed.
