You build the lesson theory in the builder from blocks: text, video, audio, embedded pages, SCORM packages, self-check questions and more. The student sees the blocks from top to bottom in the order you arranged them. You can also pin files to the lesson. They are shown at the very top of the content.

Where to edit the content

Open the lesson and go to the Content section (“Content builder”). Lessons and modules with content have this section. A header module has no content. All changes are saved automatically.

Block types

You add blocks with the buttons below the list of blocks. There are 11 types:

Video

Upload a video file or paste a link. YouTube, Vimeo, Kinescope and direct links to video files are supported. You can also fill in Video title and Description and timecodes, for example 00:05 - Part 1. After the upload, the platform calculates the video duration. The duration is needed to count views: if the lesson has Video watch threshold turned on, the student cannot move on until they watch the video to the required percentage. Learn more in Lesson and practice settings. Protection against screen recording and copying is turned on in the course settings. Learn more in Content protection.

Quiz task

A quiz task is a short self-check question inside the theory. Seven types are available: single choice, multiple choice, logical choice, short answer, arrange the words, fill in the blanks and matching.
  • The answer is checked right away, and the student sees “Correct” or “Incorrect”.
  • You can set Message for the correct answer and Message for the incorrect answer.
  • The Hide blocks below setting hides the content under the task until the student answers. If a message is set, the blocks below are always hidden until the answer.
  • A quiz task gives no points, does not affect lesson completion and does not go to the curator for review.
If you need grading, attempts and review, use practice.

Notion

Paste the public link to the page, not the address from the browser. In Notion, click Share → Publish and copy a link like https://my-space.notion.site/.... If you changed the page in Notion, click Refresh content.

Iframe

Fill in Embed URL and the base width and height in pixels. You can use the {{userId}}, {{courseId}} and {{lessonId}} templates in the address. When the block is shown, they are replaced with real values.

Message and button

  • In the Message block, set the sender name, avatar and message texts. The {{userId}}, {{firstName}} and {{supportUrl}} templates are supported.
  • In the Button block, set the text, color and Action: open a link or a page of the school app. A link can open in a new tab. The “Transform the button into a “message” view after pressing” option replaces the button with a message containing its text.

SCORM

1

Add a SCORM block

Click SCORM in the list of blocks.
2

Upload the package

Click Upload SCORM package and select a .zip archive. While the package is being processed, students see “Presentation is being processed”.
3

Check the result

When processing is over, the package is ready to launch. If processing failed, upload the package again. You can replace a ready package with the Replace SCORM package button.
The student launches the package with the Start learning button and sees their progress. Lessons with SCORM have a completion threshold and a requirement to pass the quiz in their settings. Learn more in Lesson and practice settings. Supported package formats, completion statuses and where to see the results are covered in SCORM packages.

Working with blocks

  • Add a block: click the type you need below the list of blocks. The new block appears at the end.
  • Block title: an optional field in the block header.
  • Change the order: use the up and down arrows in the block header.
  • Delete a block: through the block header, with confirmation. After deletion, a notification with the Recover button appears.

Pinned files

You can attach files of any type to a lesson: guides, presentations, archives. They are placed at the very top of the lesson content in the “Pinned attachments” block.
  1. In the Content section, click Add files.
  2. Upload one or more files.
  3. Rename a file if needed: Change file name → Attachment title.
To remove a file, click Delete file.

Translating the content

If the course has several languages, a Content language switcher and a counter “Blocks translated: N of M” appear above the builder.
  • New blocks are created only in the primary language. In other languages, you can only change the content of existing blocks.
  • Until a block is translated, students with another language see the primary content.
  • Some blocks are not translated. Students in all languages see the changes in them.
  • You can hide a block for a specific language.

Brief summary (AI)

The Settings of a lesson with content have a Brief summary (AI) field. Fill it in yourself or click Generate with AI, and a summary is written from the lesson content. If the field is filled in, the student sees a “Brief summary from AI” card in the lesson.
  • Generation is available if the school’s tariff includes the “AI homework generation” feature. Learn more in Tariffs (commercial schools only). In a corporate school, your Exode manager changes the tariff: see Company connection and setup.
  • Generation does not start for an empty lesson: “Write the lesson first — there is nothing to summarize”.
  • The limit is 60 generations per day.

Frequently asked questions

Use the up and down arrows in the block header. Blocks cannot be dragged.
Yes, right after deletion click Recover in the notification that appears.
No. A quiz task is a self-check. It gives no points and does not block moving on. The exception is the Hide blocks below setting: the content under the task opens only after the answer.
Most likely, you pasted the link from the address bar instead of the public one. Publish the page in Notion through Share → Publish and paste a link like https://my-space.notion.site/....
The SCORM package is still being unpacked. Wait until processing is over. If processing ended with an error, upload the package again.
At the very top of the lesson, in the “Pinned attachments” block.
Blocks are created only in the primary language of the course. Switch to the primary language, add the block, then go back to the language you need and translate its content.
