The task database is your school’s shared library of tasks. You create a task once and then add it to the practice of any lesson. The lesson gets an independent copy, so you can safely add to and edit the database without affecting lessons that are already published.

Where the task database is

Open Courses → Task database. With the “Browse task database” permission, you see the task list, the filters and the tasks themselves, without editing rights. Only an employee with the “Task database management” permission can create, edit and delete tasks. Learn more in Access rights. The database table shows: Above the table, there is a task search and filters: Type of responses, Complexity, Course, Lesson and Tags. The course or lesson filter shows tasks whose copies were added to the selected course or lesson.

Creating a task

1

Open the editor

Click Add in the database header. The “Task settings” window opens.
2

Set tags and difficulty

Add tags and choose the difficulty. You can also do this later.
3

Choose the task type

In the “Select task type” block, click the type you need. The task is created in the database right away, and its builder opens.
4

Fill in the task

Enter the question, add answer options and mark the correct ones. If needed, add content blocks (text, video, audio, an iframe, a checklist or a Notion page) and use Add explanation. Changes in the builder are saved automatically.
5

Save the settings

If you changed the tags or difficulty after creating the task, click Save. The notification “Task settings saved” appears.
How each task type is checked and how points are awarded is described in Task types.

Task types

Changing the type

To change the type of a created task, click Change task type and choose a new type. If the data is incompatible, the warning “Change task type?” appears: incompatible data is reset, while the task name and compatible options are kept. If nothing would be lost, the type changes without confirmation.

Difficulty

The difficulty level helps you filter the database. There are five levels: very low, low, medium, high and very high. The default is medium.

Tags

Tags help you group tasks by topic and find them quickly.
  • Add a tag to a task. Start typing the name in the Tags field. Choose an existing tag or click Create tag ”…”.
  • Remove a tag from a task. Click the cross on the tag.
  • Rename or delete a tag. Open the Tags filter above the table. Next to each tag, there is a pencil icon for renaming and a trash icon for deleting with confirmation.
Tag rules:
  • the name is from 1 to 50 characters;
  • tag names in a school do not repeat: “A tag with this name already exists”;
  • a deleted tag is removed from all of the school’s tasks, including copies in lessons.
The task database has no separate subjects or categories. Use tags to group tasks by topic and subject.

Adding a task from practice

You can send a task created right in the lesson practice to the database.
  1. Open the lesson → Practice → Tasks tab.
  2. In the task menu, click Add to base.
A copy of the task appears in the database, and the menu item of the task in the lesson changes to “Added to base”. You cannot add the same task again: the message “The task is already in the task database” appears. Employees with the “Task database management” permission can add tasks from practice to the database.

Generating tasks with AI

The database itself has no generation: tasks are generated in the lesson practice from its content. To fill the database with generated tasks, accept them in the practice, then click Add to base on the tasks you need. Learn more about generation in Practice.

Deleting a task

Hover over the row, click the delete icon and confirm: “Delete task ”…”?”. The task is deleted from the database, but its copies in lessons stay and keep working. Students’ attempts and points do not change.

Frequently asked questions

No. The lesson gets an independent copy. Changes in the database do not affect tasks already added, and edits in a lesson do not change the original. To update a lesson, delete the old task from the practice and add the fixed one from the database.
Nothing. The copies in lessons stay, and students keep taking them.
The section opens with the “Browse task database” or “Task database management” permission. Ask the school administrator to grant one of them. To create and edit tasks, you need “Task database management”.
There are no separate subjects or folders. Use tags: you can filter the database by them and pick tasks when adding them to practice.
Most likely, a tag with this name already exists in the school. Choose it from the list or come up with another name. The name can be up to 50 characters long.
Not directly. Generate tasks in the lesson practice, accept the ones that fit and click Add to base in the menu of each task.
Look at the Lessons column in the database table. When you hover over it, a list of lessons and courses that use copies of the task appears.
