Practice offers ten task types. The type defines how the student answers and who checks the answer: the platform checks nine types automatically, and the curator checks the detailed answer. You choose the type when you create a task and can change it later if needed.

List of types

In tasks “with attachment”, the task author attaches files to the answer options, for example, images to choose from. The student does not upload files in such tasks. To have the student send a file, use Detailed answer.

How points are awarded

An auto-checked task is graded as a whole: either full points or 0. There are no partially correct answers.
  • Points per task. Auto-checked tasks are worth 1 point by default. For a detailed answer, you set the maximum points with the Maximum number of points slider, from 1 to 10. Tasks created by AI can be worth from 1 to 10 points.
  • A task without an answer gives 0 points, but its maximum points count toward the total.
  • The attempt result is the sum of points for the tasks in the variant. The percentage of correct answers is the student’s points divided by the maximum for the variant.
  • A detailed answer gives 0 points until the curator checks it. The curator sets points from 0 to the task maximum.

How each type is checked

Single, multiple and logical choice

The answer is correct only if the student picked all correct options and no incorrect ones. Tasks “with attachment” are checked the same way. Example: a task has three correct options out of five. The student picked two correct ones: the answer is incorrect, 0 points. The student picked three correct ones and one extra: also 0 points.

Short answer

The author adds one or more correct options. This type has no incorrect options. The answer counts if it matches any of the correct options. When comparing, the platform ignores:
  • letter case;
  • the difference between the Russian letters “ё” and “е”;
  • the kind of quotation marks, apostrophes and dashes;
  • extra spaces at the beginning, at the end and between words.
Example: if the correct answer is “Looking into the distance”, the answers “looking into the distance” and “LOOKING INTO THE DISTANCE” count. The answer “into the distance looking” counts only if the author added it as a separate option.

Fill in the blanks

The author selects words in the text, and they become gaps. For each gap, you choose how the student answers:
  • Fill: the student types the word. The original word and any added options count.
  • Select: the student picks from a list. The original word and the options marked as correct count.
The comparison ignores case, the “ё”/“е” difference and extra spaces, just like in a short answer. The task counts only if all gaps are filled correctly.

Arrange the words

The author selects words in the text, and they become gaps. You can add incorrect words as distractors with the Add incorrect option button. The student drags words into the gaps or places them with clicks. The task counts if every gap has the correct word. If the text has identical words, they can go into any of the matching gaps.

Matching

The author makes pairs: Left-hand option and Right-hand option. The student connects the items. The task counts only if all filled pairs are connected correctly. Pairs with an empty side are not checked.

Detailed answer

The student writes text, attaches files and can record a voice message. The platform does not check such an answer. If the variant has at least one task with a detailed answer, the whole attempt gets the Under review status after submission and waits for the curator. Learn more in Practice check.

What else a task has

  • Question: the required task title.
  • Content blocks: you can add editor text, video, audio, an iframe, a checklist and a Notion page to the question.
  • Explanation: a breakdown of the task. Click Add explanation. The student sees the explanation after completing the practice, but only in Education mode.

If you changed the correct answer

Points are fixed at the moment of answering. If you changed the correct options or the maximum points of a task that students have already answered, the old answers are not recalculated by themselves.
1

Start the recheck

In the practice, open the task menu and click Recheck answers → Recheck.
2

Wait for it to finish

The recheck runs in the background. All saved answers to this task are rechecked against the current correct options, and the attempt points are updated.
3

Recalculate stars if needed

Stars and task statistics are not recalculated automatically. After rechecking the answers, click Recalculate stars in the course Gamification section.
  • You can run a recheck up to 3 times per hour for one task.
  • Detailed answers are not rechecked: the curator sets their points.
  • Only points change. The statuses of already submitted attempts, for example “Fail”, stay the same.
  • If you only fixed the wording or formatting, no recheck is needed.

Frequently asked questions

It isn’t: an auto-checked task either counts as a whole or doesn’t count. If a multiple choice answer misses some correct options or has an extra one, the student gets 0 points for the task.
The platform compares the answer with the author’s options character by character, ignoring case, the “ё”/“е” difference, quotation marks and extra spaces. Synonyms and a different word order do not count. Add all acceptable wordings as separate correct options and run Recheck answers.
No. In tasks with attachment, the author attaches files to the answer options. To get a file from the student, use Detailed answer.
You set maximum points from 1 to 10 with the slider on a detailed answer. Auto-checked tasks created manually are worth 1 point.
Yes, if you run Recheck answers in the task menu. The points are updated, but the statuses of already submitted attempts do not change. If the work needs to be accepted, the curator can set the Completed status manually.
That’s by design: if the variant has a detailed answer, the curator decides on the whole attempt. The answers to the other tasks are already checked automatically.
Yes, in the task editor click Change task type. Incompatible data is reset, while the name and compatible options are kept. Learn more in Creating tasks.
Explanations are shown only in the Education practice mode. They are not visible in Testing and Exam modes.
