A course page automatically gets a title, description, image and keywords for search engines and messenger previews. All of this comes from the main course data. In addition, in the SEO block you can set a readable course address and keywords that students don’t see. The SEO block (commercial schools only) is located in the course’s Settings → Appearance and design.

Where the page data comes from

There are no separate fields for an SEO title and an SEO description. To improve search results, fill in the title and the brief description, and upload a logo. See Course settings.
The link preview in messengers and social networks is shown as a square. Upload an image to Logo of the course that is easy to read at a small size.

Human-friendly address

By default, the course page opens at an address with the course number. In the Human-friendly URL field, you can set a readable address: the school domain, then /course/ and your word, for example /course/python_basics.
1

Enter the address

Type the address in the Human-friendly URL field. Spaces are removed automatically.
2

Wait for the check

The platform immediately checks whether the address is free and has the right format. If there is an error, a hint appears under the field.
3

Save the address

Click Save url. The Cancel button restores the previous address. After saving, you can copy or open the link with the buttons to the right of the field.

Address rules

Error messages:
  • “The address may contain only Latin letters, digits and _” — the address has invalid characters or consists only of digits.
  • “This address is already taken” — another course already uses this address.
After you change the address, the old readable address no longer opens the course. The link with the course number always keeps working. If you have already published the readable link, update it in your ads and mailings.

SEO tags

The SEO tags for search optimization field works like a tags field: type a word and press Enter. The clear icon removes all SEO tags at once. In SEO tags, list the words people should use to find the course in search engines but that you don’t need to show students.

When the page is available to search engines

A search engine sees the course page just like a regular visitor. The page is open when the course is on sale: the launch is on, the sales dates haven’t ended, a paid course has an active tariff and the course is not archived. If the course is not on sale, the page is closed to everyone except students with access and school employees, and it can’t be indexed. Hiding the course from the catalog doesn’t close the page: a course on sale opens by direct link. See Creating courses. In a corporate school, the page of a course hidden from the catalog is visible only to those enrolled in it — see Courses in a company.

No. SEO tags are added only to the page keywords. Students see regular tags and labels.
