The course type defines which section of the Courses menu the course sits in and what it is called in the interface. Three types are currently available in a school: video course, text course and course bundle.

Available types

In the Courses menu, each type has its own item: Video courses, Text courses and Course bundles. Next to the item, you see how many courses of this type the school has.
Webinars and Private lessons are not available yet — coming soon. The platform has no built-in webinar room.

Video course and text course

A video course and a text course have the same features. Both use the same lesson editor, and you can add video, text, files, practice and other blocks to any lesson. See Lesson content. The type only affects the presentation:
  • which item of the Courses menu the course sits in;
  • which icon is shown next to the course;
  • how fields and headings are labeled: “Title of the video course”, “Actions with the text course” and so on.
Choose the type based on how you want to present the course to students and how you prefer to organize courses in the control panel.

Course bundle

A bundle is a special type. It has no modules or lessons of its own. Instead, in the Content menu item you build a list of school courses, and a student who gets access to the bundle gets access to them too. Because a bundle has no lessons of its own, the following are hidden for it:
  • the Full content protection, Free lesson progression, Text copy protection, Hide autonumbering of modules and lessons switches and the Course languages block;
  • the Chat with the curator block;
  • the Gamification, Certificates and Assignment checking menu items;
  • lesson rating in the review settings;
  • the Create a copy action.
Bundle prices are set through a launch and tariffs, just like for a regular course (commercial schools only). Learn more in Course bundles.

How to choose the type when creating a course

The type is set by the section you create the course from.
1

Open the right section

In the Courses menu, select Video courses, Text courses or Course bundles.
2

Click the create button

The button is named after the section type: Create a video course, Create a text course or Create a course bundle.
3

Fill in the form

Enter the title and, in a commercial school, the access type. Learn more in Creating courses.
You can’t change the type of an existing course in the interface. A copy of a course keeps the type of the original. If you need a different type, create a new course in the right section.

Frequently asked questions

Only by name, icon and menu section. The lesson editor, practice, groups, tariffs and content protection work the same way.
Yes. You can add video, text and other blocks to a lesson of any course. The course type doesn’t limit lesson content.
No. The type is chosen once, when the course is created. A copy of the course also gets the type of the original. If the type matters, create a new course in the right section of the Courses menu.
No. A bundle and a regular course are built differently: a bundle has no lessons, only a list of courses. Create a bundle separately and add the courses you need to it.
These types are not available yet — coming soon. The Webinars and Private lessons items are hidden from the Courses menu.
A bundle has no lessons of its own. In its Content section, you add existing school courses. See Course bundles.
Create the course again in the right section of the Courses menu. Send the wrong course to the archive: Settings → Main → Remove from list and archive. An archived course doesn’t count toward the course limit of your tariff.
