For each student, the platform tracks progress in each course: how many lessons are completed, which lesson is current, how many stars are earned. There is no separate report page for the student: progress is built into the course cards and the course itself. The school sees the same progress in the student lists, in the user card and in exports.

How course progress is calculated

Progress is the share of completed lessons out of all course lessons available to the student. If a lesson is disabled in all groups the student belongs to, this lesson is not part of “total lessons” for this student. Learn more about groups in Group settings. For a course bundle, progress is made up of all the courses in the bundle: lessons and completed lessons are added up, and the overall percentage is calculated from these totals. On the bundle card, the progress of each included course is shown separately.
Progress is recalculated every time the page opens. If you publish new lessons, “total lessons” grows, and the percentage drops for students who have already completed the course.

Lesson statuses

Each lesson the student has started has a progress status: A lesson can also be unavailable: Unavailable — the previous lessons must be completed first, Scheduled — the lesson opens on schedule, Disabled by group — the lesson is disabled in the student’s group, Access expired — the group access term has ended. Only lessons with the Completed status count toward progress.

Current lesson

The current lesson is the furthest lesson of the course, by order, on which the student already has progress. Usually it is the lesson where the student stopped. If the student goes back to one of the first lessons, the furthest one still stays current.

What the student sees

1

Continue training

In the My learning section, the Continue training block shows the student’s active courses — up to 30 of them, starting with the courses with the most recent access. If there are more courses, a Show all training button with a counter appears at the bottom.
2

Course card

The card shows how many lessons are completed out of the total, the completion percentage, the name of the current lesson and a progress bar. If access is limited in time, the card has a … left or Access until … label. Clicking the card opens the current lesson.
3

Stars

If gamification is on in the course, the card shows how many stars the student has earned and how many they can get for the whole course. Learn more in Gamification.
4

Certificates

Received certificates are collected in the My learning section under the Certificates item. Learn more in Certificates.
The full list of the student’s courses — active and completed — opens from the All learning item in the My learning section.

Where the school sees progress

Learn more in User card and Tables and exports. Student progress is also used on the Completion rate card on Home. How it differs from the completion percentage is explained in How metrics are calculated.

Frequently asked questions

Most likely, new lessons were published in the course after the student finished it. They increased the total number of lessons, while the student’s completed lessons stayed the same. Also check whether the student has lessons with the Under curator’s review or Under revision status: such lessons are not completed yet.
No. Only published lessons with content are counted. Modules themselves and lessons of unpublished modules are not part of the total number of lessons.
Lessons disabled in all of a student’s groups are not part of their total number of lessons. If students are in different groups with different sets of lessons, their “total lessons” differ.
Completed lessons and all lessons are added up across all courses in the bundle, and the overall percentage is calculated from these totals. That is why a long course affects the result more than a short one.
The current lesson is the furthest lesson, by order, on which the student has progress, not the last one opened. If the student went back to review an early lesson, the current lesson does not change.
No. A student sees only their own progress. The progress of all students is available to school staff with the Course student management permission.
The block shows only active courses. If access to the course has ended or the course is completed, it stays in the All learning list. Also, the block shows no more than 30 courses: the rest open with the Show all training button.
Stars are shown only if gamification is on in the course settings.
